Job Summary:
The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for managing and overseeing the logistics operations within the organization. This role ensures efficient and effective coordination of transportation, inventory management, and warehousing activities to meet customer demands and optimize operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, organize, and coordinate logistics activities to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
2. Supervise and lead a team of logistics personnel, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring performance to ensure department goals are met.
3. Manage and optimize transportation activities, including routing, carrier selection, and negotiation of transportation rates.
4. Oversee inventory management to ensure accurate stock levels, minimize carrying costs, and prevent stockouts or overstocks.
5. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as required.
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, sales, and customer service, to ensure smooth and efficient order fulfillment.
7. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers to ensure reliable and cost-effective logistics services.
8. Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations and industry standards for transportation and logistics operations.
9. Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for logistics personnel.
10. Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and enhance logistics processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
2. Proven experience (X years) in logistics management, preferably in a supervisory role.
3. Strong knowledge of transportation and logistics operations, including inventory management, warehousing, and distribution.
4. Proficient in using logistics software and systems to manage and track shipments, inventory, and performance metrics.
5. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
6. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and motivate a team.
7. Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
8. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and vendors.
9. Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to resolve logistics issues and implement process improvements.
10. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in logistics operations.
